§ 42-28-13. Members assigned to department of environmental management.
Upon the request of the director of environmental management, duly presented to the superintendent, that a member or members of the division be assigned to duty with the department of environmental management, the superintendent, in the superintendent’s discretion, may assign a member or members of the division to duty with the department of environmental management, and thereupon the superintendent, in the superintendent’s judgment, may appoint a member or members of the division of state police in addition to the number of members hereinabove provided for; provided, however, that upon making the request, the director of environmental management shall agree to pay the salary and expenses of the member or members of the division of state police during the period of the duty in the manner hereinafter specified. Each such additional member of the division shall thereupon become a member of the division of state police, and each member so assigned to duty as aforesaid shall during the period of such duty continue to be a member of the division of state police, but the member’s salary and expenses shall be paid by the director of environmental management. The superintendent shall have full power at all times to withdraw any member assigned to duty with the department of environmental management and assign another member to the member’s place or to discontinue such duty and to make no assignment to replace.
