It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 28-40 of the General Laws entitled "Temporary Disability Insurance -- Benefits" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

{ADD 28-40-2.2. Exemption of certain disabled persons. -- ADD} {ADD Disabled persons employed through a "supported employment" program as described in the federal rehabilitation act amendments of 1992 and who are ineligible to receive temporary disability benefits because their pay is too low may elect to be exempt from the provisions of chapters 39 through 41, inclusive, of this title. ADD}

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
