It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 17-1 of the General Laws entitled "General Provisions" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:
{ADD 17-1-10. Lincoln town officials -- Inauguration date. -- ADD} {ADD The voters of the Town of Lincoln may vote, at the next regularly scheduled election to be held on November 7, 2000 on whether to modify the Town Home Rule Charter to change the inauguration date of officials of the Town of Lincoln from the first Tuesday of December in even-numbered years to the first Tuesday of January in odd-numbered years to coincide with the inaugurations of state officers. ADD}
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
