It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. The title of Chapter 47-2 of the General Laws entitled "Town and City Sealers" is hereby amended to read as follows:
{DEL SANITATION IN FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS DEL}
{ADD PRODUCE SCALES IN MARKETS ADD}
SECTION 2. Chapter 47-2 of the General Laws entitled "Town and City Sealers" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:
{ADD 47-2-10. Produce scales in markets. -- ADD} {ADD Every retail food business which has a produce department and provides a scale for customers to weigh their purchases shall provide a written notice adjacent to the scale which notifies the customers that the weight registered on the scale is approximate and the scales are not certified by the sealer of weights and measures. Provided further that the section shall not apply to roadside farm stands and farmers' markets. ADD}
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.
