It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 5-38-26 of the General Laws in Chapter 5-38 entitled "Automobile Body Repair Shops" is hereby amended to read as follows:
5-38-26. Inspection by lienholders. -- (a) For the
purpose of inspecting repaired vehicles, lienholder(s) shall be
allowed forty-eight (48) hours or two (2) working days after notification
by the body shop to inspect the vehicle at the body shop; and
further the agent for the lienholder(s) inspecting the vehicle
must {ADD be located within the state of Rhode Island and ADD} have
the authority to sign the insurance check {ADD /draft. ADD} {DEL degrees raft.
DEL}
(b) If the lienholder(s) fails to inspect within the time frame
set forth above, it must endorse the insurance {ADD check/draft ADD} {DELcompany check degrees
raft DEL} to the body shop.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
