It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 4-13 of the General Laws entitled "Dogs" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

{ADD 4-13-40. Exemptions from application of chapter. -- ADD} {ADD The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to K-9 and/or other dogs owned by any police department or any law enforcement officer which are used in the performance of police work. ADD}

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
