It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The Town Council for the Town of Hopkinton, despite the absence of an adopted tax levy for the fiscal year 1997, is authorized to take such emergency actions as it deems necessary to continue to provide municipal police protection through July 9, 1996.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
