It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The town of Smithfield shall have up to and including June 30, 1996 within which to lawfully adopt land development and subdivision review ordinances, regulations and rules into conformance with the provisions of chapter 45-23 of the general laws. Until June 30, 1996 or until the town adopts its new ordinances, regulations and rules, whichever shall first occur, the ordinances, regulations and rules previously enacted by the town shall continue in full force and effect.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage and shall be retroactive to December 31, 1995.
