It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 34-18 of the General Laws entitled "Residential Landlord and Tenant Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

{ADD 34-18-57. Providence absentee landlord enforcement act. -- ADD} {ADD Commencing January 1, 1996, all persons, corporations, organizations, association or other legal entities owning and leasing property in the city of Providence shall register their name, home address, including zip code, and telephone number with the recorder of deeds for the city of Providence. ADD}

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
