It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 39-14-23 of the General Laws in Chapter 39-14 entitled "Taxicab and Limited Public Motor Vehicle" is hereby amended to read as follows:

{ADD 39-14-23. ADD} {DEL Provisions supplementary -- Persons exempt DEL} {ADD Persons exempt. -- ADD} {DEL The provisions of sections 39-14-15 -- 39-14-23, inclusive, are hereby declared to be supplementary and in addition to the provisions of other chapters of this title and of title 31 and of sections 39-14-1 -- 39-14-14, inclusive; provided, however, that the provisions of sections 39-14-15 -- 39-14-23, inclusive, shall not apply to any person, firm, co-partnership, association, or corporation required to file a bond or to furnish evidence of financial responsibility under the provisions of sections 39-14-1 -- 39-14-14, inclusive; and provided further, that the provisions of sections 39-14-14.1 -- 39-14-23, inclusive, DEL} {ADD this chapter ADD} shall not apply to any citizen of the town of New Shoreham owning or operating a taxicab or limited public motor vehicle in the town of New Shoreham.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
