It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 11-48-3 of the General Laws in Chapter 11-48 entitled "Substances Releasing Toxic Vapors" is hereby amended to read as follows:

{ADD 11-48-3. Penalty for violation. -- ADD} Any person who violates the provisions of this chapter shall be punished by a fine of not more than {DEL two DEL} {ADD five ADD} hundred dollars {DEL ($200) DEL} {ADD ($500) ADD} or by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both.

SECTION 2.This act shall take effect upon passage.
