It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 25-2 of the General Laws entitled "Holidays and Days of Special Observance" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

{ADD 25-2-36. Rhode Island speech-language-hearing awareness week. -- ADD} {ADD The first week of May in each year is hereby designated as "Rhode Island speech-language-hearing awareness week". The week is to be observed by the people of this state with appropriate exercises in public places. ADD}

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
