It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 17-23 of the General Laws entitled "Election Offenses" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

{ADD 17-23-19. Referenda advertisements. -- ADD} Media outlets in Rhode Island which sell time for advertisements pertaining to referenda questions at an election shall require the purchasers of such advertisements to prominently display the state in which said referenda election is to be held.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
