| PROCLAIMING THE FIRST SATURDAY IN MAY AS "RHODE ISLAND LABYRINTH DAY" AND RECOGNIZING MAY 2, 2026, AS "WORLD LABYRINTH DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND |

| WHEREAS, World Labyrinth Day is held annually on the first Saturday in May, and |
| May 2, 2026, marks this international celebration of an ancient tradition that continues to meet |
| contemporary needs for rituals of self-care supporting physical, spiritual, and behavioral health; |
| and |
| WHEREAS, Labyrinths have been used for centuries across cultures as pathways for |
| walking meditation, reflection, and mindfulness, offering individuals a simple yet powerful way |
| to restore balance, cultivate inner peace, and enhance overall well-being; and |
| WHEREAS, Civic, social, and personal stresses have given rise across the nation to |
| increased levels of anxiety, loneliness, grief, depression, and environmental detachment, |
| highlighting the importance of accessible, restorative, and community-centered practices; and |
| WHEREAS, More than two dozen walking meditation labyrinths exist across the Ocean |
| State, offering welcoming and inclusive public spaces for reflection, mindfulness, and meaningful |
| community and environmental connection; and |
| WHEREAS, World Labyrinth Day promotes a global "Wave of Peace," inviting people |
| around the world to "Walk as One" at 1:00 p.m., creating a moving meditation for unity, |
| harmony, and hope; now, therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
| proclaims the first Saturday in May as "Rhode Island Labyrinth Day"; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That this House hereby recognizes May 2, 2026, as "World Labyrinth Day" |
| in the State of Rhode Island; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That this House encourages all Rhode Islanders to visit a labyrinth, to join |
| others in the reflective "Wave of Peace," to "Walk as One" at 1:00 p.m., and to experience the |
| many physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of this uplifting practice; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
| transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to representatives of Rhode Island's labyrinth |
| organizations and Tom Flanagan of Blue Skies Rhode Island. |
