S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N
RESPECTFULLY CONDEMNING THE ASSAULTS ON POLICE OFFICERS IN NEW YORK DURING THE BLIZZARD AND URGING INVESTIGATION AND ACCOUNTABILITY

     WHEREAS, Law enforcement officers serve their communities with courage and
dedication, often at great personal risk, to ensure public safety; and
     WHEREAS, During the recent blizzard in New York, reports indicate that police officers
were assaulted while performing their duties in hazardous conditions; and
     WHEREAS, Acts of violence against law enforcement officers undermine public safety,
threaten the rule of law, and cannot be tolerated in a democratic society; and
     WHEREAS, It is essential that those responsible for such assaults are held accountable
under the law to preserve public trust and uphold justice; now, therefore, be it
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island condemns the assaults on
police officers in New York during the recent blizzard, and expresses unwavering support for law
enforcement officers who risk their lives to protect the public; and be it further
     RESOLVED, That this Senate urges the Mayor of New York City and the appropriate
law enforcement authorities to conduct a full and thorough investigation into these incidents, and
to pursue charges and justice where appropriate; and be it further
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Mayor of New York City and the New York
City Police Department.
