RECOGNIZING FEBRUARY 11TH, 2025, AS "211 DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND AND HONORING UNITED WAY 211 FOR ITS SERVICE TO RHODE ISLANDERS |

WHEREAS, United Way 211 is a free and confidential service available 24 hours a day, |
365 days a year, connecting Rhode Islanders to essential health and human services, including |
housing assistance, food access, mental health resources, and disaster response; and |
WHEREAS, Since 2007, United Way of Rhode Island has operated and maintained 211, |
providing vital support to individuals and families in need, ensuring access to services in nearly |
200 languages and dialects; and |
WHEREAS, United Way 211 has served as a critical communication and response |
system during public emergencies, natural disasters, and public health crises, ensuring Rhode |
Islanders receive timely and accurate information; and |
WHEREAS, In 2024-2025, United Way 211 received 213,000 requests for assistance, |
demonstrating its role as a lifeline for Rhode Islanders seeking stability and support; and |
WHEREAS, The data and insights collected through 211 services help inform policy |
decisions and resource allocation, allowing state and local leaders to better serve their |
communities; and |
WHEREAS, Recognizing February 11th as "211 Day" honors the vital contributions of |
United Way 211 and the many community organizations that collaborate to improve the well- |
being of Rhode Islanders; now, therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
proclaims February 11, 2025, as "211 Day" in Rhode Island, recognizing the significant |
contributions of United Way 211 and its partners in serving the people of our State; and be it |
further |
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the United Way of Rhode Island and other |
relevant community partners. |
