H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N
RECOGNIZING FEBRUARY 11TH, 2025, AS "211 DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND AND HONORING UNITED WAY 211 FOR ITS SERVICE TO RHODE ISLANDERS

     WHEREAS, United Way 211 is a free and confidential service available 24 hours a day,
365 days a year, connecting Rhode Islanders to essential health and human services, including
housing assistance, food access, mental health resources, and disaster response; and
     WHEREAS, Since 2007, United Way of Rhode Island has operated and maintained 211,
providing vital support to individuals and families in need, ensuring access to services in nearly
200 languages and dialects; and
     WHEREAS, United Way 211 has served as a critical communication and response
system during public emergencies, natural disasters, and public health crises, ensuring Rhode
Islanders receive timely and accurate information; and
     WHEREAS, In 2024-2025, United Way 211 received 213,000 requests for assistance,
demonstrating its role as a lifeline for Rhode Islanders seeking stability and support; and
     WHEREAS, The data and insights collected through 211 services help inform policy
decisions and resource allocation, allowing state and local leaders to better serve their
communities; and
     WHEREAS, Recognizing February 11th as "211 Day" honors the vital contributions of
United Way 211 and the many community organizations that collaborate to improve the well-
being of Rhode Islanders; now, therefore be it
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby
proclaims February 11, 2025, as "211 Day" in Rhode Island, recognizing the significant
contributions of United Way 211 and its partners in serving the people of our State; and be it
further
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the United Way of Rhode Island and other
relevant community partners.
