S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N
PROCLAIMING MAY 25TH, 2023, TO BE "BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS YOUTH OF THE YEAR DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, The young people of Rhode Island are tomorrow's leaders; and
     WHEREAS, There are currently nineteen Boys & Girls Clubs in communities throughout
the State of Rhode Island; and
     WHEREAS, The Boys & Girls Clubs of America Youth of the Year Program was
established in 1947, and is the premier recognition program for Club members; and
     WHEREAS, The Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year Program promotes service to the
Club, community and family, academic success, strong moral character, life goals, and poise and
public speaking ability; and
     WHEREAS, This year, the recipient of the Boys & Girls Club Statewide Youth of the
Year Award is Daishanay Francis of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island. Ms.
Francis is a talented young lady with a bright future who is dedicated to serving her community
and working to ensure that all young men and women in Rhode Island have the ability to access
the American dream; and
     WHEREAS, The following outstanding youth have also been honored as their clubs
"Youth of the Year" based on fulfilling the merits previously listed and they proudly represent
their respective Clubs which are part of the 16,000 youth served by the Boys & Girls Club
programs in the entire State of Rhode Island; and
     WHEREAS, The honorees are: Iker Rojas, Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket, Kyle
Brennan Simmons, Boys & Girls Club of Newport County, Rosa Delgado, Boys & Girls Club of
Providence, Salem Hale, Boys & Girls Club of Warwick, and Abigail Gilliatt, Boys & Girls Club
of East Providence; now, therefore be it
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby proclaims May 25th,
2023, as "Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year Day" in the State of Rhode Island, and urges all
citizens to join this Senate in recognizing and commending these youth for their significant
accomplishments and contributions to our communities; and be it further
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Alliance of Boys & Girls
Clubs.
