Beacon's mission is to "develop artistic thinkers by nurturing self-expression while preparing our
graduates with the academic skills necessary for sustained post-secondary success"; and
     WHEREAS, Beacon students learn about the theatre, visual, and culinary arts. In the
theatre arts program, they are provided with enriching and engaging opportunities to learn about
all elements of the theatre, both on stage and off stage. They also explore the literature, history,
cultural significance, and theories behind theatre and its great works; and
     WHEREAS, In the Beacon visual arts program, students explore the different forms of
media, and collaborate on projects in which critical thinking, creativity and communication are
key to success. All of these skills drive innovation in society and mastering them is an important
expertise to have in order to successfully navigate the professional world of today and tomorrow;

training program to prepare its students for all aspects of the food industry from quantity food
preparation to the art of making fine pastry. In the school’s shop, all classical and modern

variety of international cuisines. Students also learn about the retail and wholesale marketing of
prepared foods, and are trained to operate all modern kitchen equipment found in commercial
kitchens; and
     WHEREAS, Since 2003, the many dedicated teachers, staff members and administrators
at Beacon Charter Schools have prepared hundreds of students from throughout the State of
Rhode Island with the necessary academic, artistic and technical skills to thrive as they navigate
their postsecondary lives; now, therefore be it
