| CELEBRATING "URI DAY" AT THE RHODE ISLAND STATEHOUSE ON MARCH 28, 2023 |

| WHEREAS, Rhode Islanders are the fortunate recipients of the innovate and well- |
| respected education provided by the University of Rhode Island (URI); and |
| WHEREAS, Considered a “major research university”, URI offers undergraduate, |
| graduate, and professional courses and degrees that prepare young people and adults to become |
| active problem-solvers who can adapt to new situations in our ever-changing world; and |
| WHEREAS, Comprised of four campuses and a diverse and vibrant student body |
| representing seventy-six nations, URI offers more than ninety majors, including “study abroad” |
| courses, and myriad summer and honors programs; and |
| WHEREAS, Faculty at the University are “distinguished scholars and researchers” whose |
| “excellence and commitment to their students” is unsurpassed; and |
| WHEREAS, Founded in 1892, URI is consistently in the top half of the rankings for |
| National Universities; now, therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
| celebrates “URI Day” and thanks the University and staff for the significant contributions they |
| provide to our State through research and programs that improve the lives of all Rhode Islanders; |
| and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
| transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Marc B. Parlange, President of the University |
| of Rhode Island. |
