| PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF JANUARY 26TH TO FEBRUARY 1ST OF 2020, TO BE "PHYSICIAN ANESTHESIOLOGISTS WEEK" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND |

| WHEREAS, More than 100 million operations and procedures are performed every year |
| with anesthesia and physician anesthesiologists playing a critical role, before, during and after |
| procedures, making patient safety their top priority; and |
| WHEREAS, Anesthesia is safer than ever before but there is always a potential for |
| complications and side effects and physician anesthesiologists have the training and expertise to |
| help minimize risks, monitor for any problems and take quick action; and |
| WHEREAS, When seconds count, when emergencies or complications occur |
| unexpectedly, physician anesthesiologists draw on their extensive medical education and years of |
| clinical training and experience to make critical decisions that save lives; and |
| WHEREAS, Physician anesthesiologists are committed to high quality and safe patient |
| care and educating patients to make their anesthesia even safer, reduce the risk of complication |
| and ensure a complete recovery from surgery; now, therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
| hereby proclaims the week of January 26th to February 1st of 2020, to be the 6th Annual |
| "Physician Anesthesiologists Week" in the State of Rhode Island; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That this Senate hereby urges all citizens to join us in recognizing |
| physician anesthesiologists and thanking them for developing the techniques and protocols that |
| have greatly improved the safety of anesthesia and the well-being of surgical patients each day; |
| and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
| transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the American Society of Anesthesiologists. |
