| H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N |
| CELEBRATING "ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS DAY" ON APRIL 24, 2019, AND THANKING ALL OF THE DEDICATED STAFF WHO WORK TIRELESSLY IN SUPPORT OF THE RHODE ISLAND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES |

| WHEREAS, In 1952, United States Secretary of Commerce Charles W. Sawyer |
| proclaimed the week of June 1-7 to be "National Secretaries Week" with Wednesday, June 4th |
| being designated as "National Secretaries Day." In 1955, "National Secretaries Week" was moved |
| to the last full week of April with the Wednesday of that week now being designated as |
| "Administrative Professionals Day." The name was changed to "Professional Secretaries Week" |
| in 1981, and became "Administrative Professionals Week" in 2000; and |
| WHEREAS, Administrative Professionals Day celebrates the four million hard-working |
| Administrative Assistants within the United States workforce who make invaluable contributions |
| on a daily basis in support of their workplace. Many of them toil late into the night and early in |
| the morning in order to ensure that the work product is accurate and on time. Without these |
| dedicated professionals, most workplaces could not function properly; and |
| WHEREAS, Our nation's Administrative Professionals can be found working for small |
| and big businesses, at charitable entities, and in all government institutions including schools, |
| hospitals and other vital components of society, and they are often the first contact a member of |
| the public has with a particular institution; and |
| WHEREAS, At the Rhode Island State House, dedicated Administrative Professionals |
| work long hours to support the needs and important functions of the Rhode Island House of |
| Representatives. Thanks to these exemplary professionals, the members of the House can better |
| represent their constituents and do the important work they were elected to do; now, therefore be |
| it |
| RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
| Providence Plantations hereby proudly celebrates "Administrative Professionals Day" on April |
| 24, 2019, and thanks all of the dedicated staff who work tirelessly in support of the Rhode Island |
| House of Representatives; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
| transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Nara Onishi, CAP, OM, PM, Chair of the |
| International Association of Administrative Professionals. |
