EXTENDING THE REPORTING AND EXPIRATION DATES, AND AMENDING THE LANGUAGE OF THE SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE COMMISSION TO EXAMINE THE ADVISABILITY OF RHODE ISLAND JOINING THE INTERSTATE LICENSURE COMPACT |

RESOLVED, That the special Senate commission created by resolution No. 360 passed |
by the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 30, 2017, entitled "Senate |
Resolution Creating a Special Legislative Commission to examine the Advisability of Rhode |
Island Joining the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact" and as extended by resolution No. 118 |
passed by the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2018, and approved March 15, 2018, entitled |
"Senate Resolution Extending the reporting and expiration Dates of the Special Legislative |
Commission to examine the Advisability of Rhode Island Joining the Interstate Medical |
Licensure Compact" is hereby authorized to continue its study and make a report to the Senate on |
or before January 1, 2019, and said commission shall expire on January 31, 2019; and be it |
further |
RESOLVED, That the time for reporting authorized by resolution No. 360 passed by the |
Senate at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 30, 2017, and as extended by |
resolution No. 118 passed by the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2018, and approved March |
15, 2018, be and the same is hereby rescinded; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That said legislative commission created by resolution No. 360 passed by |
the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 30, 2017, is hereby amended by |
deleting on page 2, line 13 the language "therefore be it" and by inserting in place thereof the |
language: |
"and |
WHEREAS, "Maintenance of certification (MOC)" is a continuous professional |
development program through which physicians certified by one or more of the medical specialty |
boards; and |
WHEREAS, Maintenance of certification is controversial and is of concern to some |
physicians; now, therefore be it" and be it further |
RESOLVED, That said legislative commission created by resolution No. 360 passed by |
the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 30, 2017, is hereby amended by |
adding the following language on page 2, following line 25; |
"That said legislative commission shall also consider the issue of maintenance of |
certification while examining the advisability of Rhode Island joining the Interstate Medical |
Licensure Compact." |
