S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N |
RECOGNIZING AND CELEBRATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CREATION OF THE PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS PROFESSION |

WHEREAS, Quality, affordable and accessible patient-centered health care, provided by |
Physician Assistants contributes to the well-being and quality of life of all patients in Rhode |
Island; and |
WHEREAS, Physician Assistants practice medicine in collaboration with physicians in |
all settings and specialties, including the diagnosis and treatment of disease, assisting in surgery |
and prescribing medications; and |
WHEREAS, A valuable asset to the medical team, Physician Assistants practice |
medicine in collaboration with physicians to enhance the delivery of high-quality health care for |
patients, often in medically underserved and rural areas; and |
WHEREAS, Physician Assistants have been improving patient outcomes and moving |
health care forward since the creation of the profession in 1967; and |
WHEREAS, For 50 years, Physician Assistants have earned the trust of general public |
for their dedication and contributions to patients' lives; and |
WHEREAS, For the next 50 years and beyond, Physician Assistants will continue to |
work within the health care team to make our health care system more effective, more efficient |
and more accessible while providing increased quality to patients; now, therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
hereby recognizes the 50th Anniversary of the Physician Assistants' profession, and encourages |
all of our residents to recognize Physician Assistants for the significant impact they have made |
and the high-quality health care they have provided over the past five decades; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That The Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Academy of Physician |
Assistants. |
