| PROCLAIMING TUESDAY, MARCH 22ND, 2016, AS "ASHLEY WEEKS' DAY" IN HONOR OF ASHLEY WEEKS |

| WHEREAS, Ashley Weeks is a talented young woman from Wakefield, Rhode Island; |
| and |
| WHEREAS, Ashley was diagnosed with both colorectal and uterine cancer, stemming |
| from the genetic cancer susceptibility syndrome known as Hereditary Non Polyposis Colorectal |
| Cancer or Lynch Syndrome; and |
| WHEREAS, For many people, that diagnosis may well have limited their ambitions, not |
| so for Ashley. She is a bright and energetic wife, mother, and teacher, who lives her life with |
| enthusiasm and a desire to help others; and |
| WHEREAS, Ashley has devoted her copious talents and skills to advocating for the early |
| screening of colorectal cancer, uterine cancer, and Heredity Cancer Syndromes; and |
| WHEREAS, Ashley's willingness to reach out to help others makes her a true inspiration. |
| Her media campaigns have introduced many to her message, and resultantly, hundreds of people |
| have been reached and encouraged to embark on early screening and detection for colorectal and |
| hereditary cancers; and |
| WHEREAS, Ashley's optimism and dedication to advocacy is inspirational and her desire |
| to educate and encourage others to embrace screening is worthy of our recognition and |
| admiration; now, therefore be |
| RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
| hereby proclaims Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016, as "Ashley Weeks' Day," in her honor; and be it |
| further |
| RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
| transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Ashley Weeks. |
