PROCLAIMING
APRIL 3, 2014 TO BE "FACE OF PHARMACY DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE
ISLAND

WHEREAS, Thursday, April 3rd will
mark the 11th annual Face of Pharmacy day in Rhode Island.
Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) students, preceptors, and
faculty members will be demonstrating and exhibiting "progressive and
successful practices of pharmacy in the state"; and
WHEREAS, Pharmacists play a vital role in the health care system
through the medicine and information they provide to the public; and
WHEREAS, More than 3.5 billion prescriptions are written each year
and medications are involved in approximately 80 percent of all medical
treatments; and
WHEREAS, Pharmacists are oftentimes the most accessible healthcare
professionals for individuals and particularly for our state's senior citizens;
and
WHEREAS, The practice of pharmacy and the
role of the Pharmacist is constantly evolving in order to meet the needs of
patients struggling with an increasingly complicated and ever-changing
healthcare system; and
WHEREAS, Rhode Island is fortunate to have the University of Rhode
Island's College of Pharmacy, a national leader in Pharmaceutical Sciences
graduate education, which offers programs and specializations in cutting edge
pharmaceutical fields and practices; and
WHEREAS, These committed and earnest men and women, who have spent
years studying, learning, and practicing to become pharmacists, take an oath to
devote themselves "to a lifetime of service to others through the
profession of pharmacy." The bottom line is that pharmacists help patients
get well; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode
Island and Providence Plantations hereby proclaims April 3, 2014 to be
"Face of Pharmacy Day" in the state. We furthermore recognize and
thank the dedicated professionals and students who not only provide crucial
services to Rhode Islanders, but also contribute caring assistance and constant
support; and be it further
RESOLVED, That Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and
directed to transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the University
of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy, and the Rhode Island Pharmacists
