CELEBRATING THE
125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE TOWN OF
NARRAGANSETT

WHEREAS, After the Civil
War, the
a seaside resort. In 1881, the Narragansett Pier
Improvement Association was formed and efforts
began to separate the village from the Town of
WHEREAS, In 1887, a more inclusive approach to combining other
villages in South
WHEREAS, On March 22nd
of 1888, the State of
Plantations recognized the separation from
Upper and Lower Point Judith,
which provided the district with many of the privileges of
a town; and
WHEREAS, The Town of
Narragansett is aptly described by the Narragansett Historical
Society as "a beautiful seaside town with a rich
and varied past, a vibrant present, and excellent
prospects for a wonderful future"; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting to join with neighbors and residents in their
expression of pride
and appreciation for the many civic and economic benefits
that the community has enjoyed over
the years because of the growth and prosperity of the
Town of
WHEREAS, The Town of
Narragansett is celebrating its 125th Anniversary as an
independent body with myriad entertainment, exhibits, and
activities honoring this momentous
occasion; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this Senate of the State of
hereby extends best wishes to those who serve and live in
the Town of
commemorates the occasion of the 125th Anniversary of the town’s
founding; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and hereby is
authorized and directed to
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the
President of the Town Council and the
Town
Manager of the Town of
