PROCLAIMING
JANUARY 22-28, 2012 AS "SCHOOL CHOICE WEEK" IN THE STATE OF

WHEREAS, All children in
schools possible; and
WHEREAS, Citizens across
and expanding access to highly effective schools should
be an issue of importance to our state’s
leaders; and
WHEREAS,
system of education plays in preparing all children in this
state to be successful in a global
economy; and
WHEREAS,
schools, and nonpublic schools; and
WHEREAS,
schools, public charter schools, and private schools across
the state who are committed to
educating children; and
WHEREAS, The vital cause of education reform is one that transcends
ideology and
political party affiliation; and
WHEREAS, Research in
that providing children with multiple schooling options
improves academic performance; now,
therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this Senate of the State of
hereby proclaims January 22-28, 2012, as “School Choice
Week” in the State of
and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Deborah
A. Gist, Rhode Island Commissioner
of Elementary and Secondary Education.
