O L U T I O N
COMMEMORATING
THE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF
IMMACULATE

WHEREAS, In the 1800s,
Canadians and Irish immigrants in the mid-1800s, and
Italian immigrants in the late 1800s and
early 1900s, flocked to the
settled in
WHEREAS, These strong and faithful men and women from
composed the original congregation of the
founded on January 21st of 1886, under the devout leadership
of Reverend William Pyne; and
WHEREAS, In March of
1886, land for the church was purchased, and in September of
that year, the cornerstone was laid and blessed with more
than 2,000 parishioners and friends in
attendance; and
WHEREAS, Over the next
twelve and a half decades, the Immaculate Conception
Church continued to grow, seeing relocations, new
additions, and numerous improvements.
Currently blessed by the outstanding and devout
leadership of Reverend Wilfrid G. Gregoire,
the
parish continues to flourish, providing for the spiritual
needs of the surrounding community; and
WHEREAS, This year marks the 125th Anniversary of the founding of
Immaculate
congregation and is to be commemorated with a year-long
celebration giving thanks to God for
His many blessings; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this
House of Representatives of the State of
Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the
congregation and ministry of the Immaculate
and many more years of community enrichment and service;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That the
Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and
directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Reverend Wilfrid G. Gregoire, Pastor of
the
Immaculate
