O L U T I O N
HONORING CHIEF
OF POLICE JAMIE HAINSWORTH ON THE OCCASION OF HIS
RETIREMENT FROM
THE GLOCESTER POLICE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, Jamie Hainsworth’s acceptance into the Rhode Island Municipal
Police
Academy began a distinguished career as a police
officer that would span three decades and earn
him the respect and admiration of the entire law
enforcement community; and
WHEREAS, Upon completion of the academy, Chief Hainsworth
joined the Glocester
Police Department on January 1st of 1980; and
WHEREAS, By consistently demonstrating integrity and outstanding
leadership skills,
Chief Hainsworth rose
quickly through the ranks. In 1985, he made the rank of Sergeant, in
1988, he was promoted to Lieutenant, in 1998, he was
named Captain, and in 1999, he was
named Chief of the Glocester
Police Department, a position he has held ever since; and
WHEREAS, In addition to
his copious duties with the Glocester PD, Chief Hainsworth
has served as President and is currently the Treasurer of
the Rhode Island Police Chiefs
Association. He has also served as the Treasurer of the New
England Association of Chiefs of
Police; and
WHEREAS,
Chief Hainsworth is also a devoted husband.
Both he and his wife,
Charlene, enjoy beautifying their lovely home in Glocester. One of his many projects was to
build a man-made pond on the property. The Chief also
enjoys running, both for pleasure and
fitness, and participates in various organized “runs”
throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, In
February of 2010, Chief Hainsworth retired from the Glocester Police
Department, but he certainly did not remain idle for
long. He devotes a great deal of time, and a
good measure of love and kindness, to the Special
Olympics, something he has done for many
years and for which he has been nationally recognized. In
addition, he is currently working with
the organization Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD);
and
WHEREAS, Chief Hainsworth is “an officer and a gentleman” and the
citizenry of
Glocester and
His integrity, dedication to the job, and respect for
his fellow police officers will be sorely
missed, although there is little doubt that in his heart he
will always be part of the force and a
brother in blue; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this House of Representatives of the State of
Providence Plantations
hereby recognizes, honors, and thanks Chief Jamie Hainsworth
on the
occasion of his retirement after thirty years of steadfast and
distinguished service to the people of
Glocester and the State of
success in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Glocester Chief of Police Jamie Hainsworth.
