O L U T I O N
PROCLAIMING THE
FIFTH DAY OF JUNE AS MAJ-EN RESPECT FOR LIVING THINGS DAY

WHEREAS, Maj-en, a fourteen year old Samoyed, has interacted with
thousands of
schoolchildren and adults as a tireless therapy working dog; and
WHEREAS, This House
recognizes the beauty and magic of the human-animal
companion bond, and that the unconditional love between a pet
and a person can go a long way
toward building a friendlier and more peaceful world for all
living things; and
WHEREAS, We also celebrate the creativity of schoolchildren
illustrated through
writing, drawing, and singing, and the compassion of adults,
giving a caring and friendly smile,
kind word, or assistance to someone in distress; and
WHEREAS, We are grateful for our four-legged friends who enrich our
lives, our
families, and our society; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this House of Representatives of the State of
Providence Plantations
hereby proclaims that the fifth day of June shall be known in perpetuity as
“Maj-en Respect for Living Things Day” in the State of
