J O I N T R E S O L U T I O N
RESPECTFULLY
REQUESTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A HEALTH CARE CONSULTANT PROGRAM FOR LICENSED
CHILD CARE CENTERS IN THE STATE OF

WHEREAS, High quality
child care programs are essential to the well-being of Rhode
Island’s children and to working families in our
state; and
WHEREAS, High quality
child care programs are integral to the growth of Rhode
Island’s economy; and
WHEREAS, Child care
centers must be provided the tools needed to balance the
provision of quality services with the ability to ensure their
own economic success; and
WHEREAS, Quality child
care programs must ensure the health and safety of the
children in their care, especially those that serve infants
and toddlers; and
WHEREAS, The Departments
of Children, Youth and Families, Health, Elementary and
Secondary Education, and
Human Services are developing a nationally recognized Health
Consultant program which will provide child care
centers with affordable access to health
consultants for the children in their care; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this General Assembly of the State of
Plantations hereby
respectfully requests the Departments of Children, Youth and Families,
Health, Elementary and
Secondary Education, and Human Services to continue their
collaboration on the Health Care Consultant program; and be it
further
RESOLVED,
That the General Assembly respectfully requests that
the aforementioned
departments develop and implement this Health Care Consultant
Program no later than July 1,
2010; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That this General Assembly respectfully requests that
the aforementioned
departments report on the progress of this initiative on a
quarterly basis to the Permanent
Legislative Commission on
Child Care in
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the
chairpersons of the Permanent Legislative
Commission on Child Care in
Services, the Commissioner
of the RI Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and
to the Directors of the Departments of Health, Human Services
and Children, Youth and
Families.
