RECOGNIZING
AUGUST 8, 2009 "NATIONAL MARINA DAY" IN THE STATE OF

WHEREAS, The State of
Rhode Island places a high value on recreation time and its
ability to access one of
WHEREAS, In 1928, the word “marina” was used for the very first time
by the National
Association of Engine and Boat Manufacturers to define
a recreational boating facility; and
WHEREAS, Rhode Island
Marine Trade Association (RIMTA) serves the community as
a steward of the environment, actively seeking to
protect the surrounding waterways not only for
the enjoyment of this generation, but for generations to
come; and
WHEREAS, RIMTA provides
this community and its visitors a place where friends and
families, united by a passion for the water, can come together
for recreation, rest and relaxation;
and
WHEREAS, RIMTA will
continue to provide an environmentally friendly gateway to
boating for the citizens and visitors to
operations; and
WHEREAS, It is important to recognize August 8, 2009 as
"National Marina Day" to
recognize and honor RIMTA for its contributions to the
community and to make citizens, policy
makers and employees more aware of its overall contributions
to their well-being; now, therefore
be it
RESOLVED,
That this Senate of the State of
hereby recognize August 8, 2009 "National
RIMTA; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode
Island Marine Trade Association.
