RESPECTFULLY
REQUESTING THAT THE GOVERNOR PRESERVE MATCHING FUNDS ALLOCATED FOR BRUSH NECK
COVE DREDGING AND HABITAT RESTORATION IN THE CITY OF

WHEREAS, Sedimentation
in Brush Neck Cove has reduced the abundance and diversity
of plant and animal species, water quality, and
navigation opportunities; and
WHEREAS, The City of
Warwick's Comprehensive Plan recognizes the importance of
preserving the vitality of Brush Neck Cove; and
WHEREAS, The U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers is currently completing a $190,000
ecological restoration feasibility study to evaluate sediment
management options and other
measures to restore the quality of the habitat; and
WHEREAS, Army Corps of
Engineering dredging and restoration projects require
matching funds; and
WHEREAS, State matching
funds may be in jeopardy of being cut from next year's
budget; and
WHEREAS, This is an issue of paramount importance to health, safety
and welfare of
those who live, work and visit the City of

That this Senate of the State of
