H O U S E  R E S O L U T I O N

URGING THE UNITED STATES CONGRESSIONAL DELGATION TO SUPPORT THE STIMULUS FUNDING FOR "READY TO GO" INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

     

     

     Introduced By: Representatives Ruggiero, A Rice, and Jackson

     WHEREAS, President Barack Obama and the United States Congress are currently

considering the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009," a several hundred billion

dollar economic stimulus package; and

     WHEREAS, The effort is to put millions of people to work on "ready to go"

infrastructure projects that will benefit local governments around the country; and

     WHEREAS, It is extremely important that these funds are sent to local communities

directly to allow selection of the most beneficial projects in terms of infrastructure investment and

jobs; and

     WHEREAS, The State of Rhode Island has identified projects of the highest importance,

which are "ready to go"; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby urges the Rhode Island Congressional Delegation to support the

stimulus funding for "ready to go" infrastructure projects that will benefit local governments

around the State; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the members of the Rhode Island Congressional

Delegation.
