PROCLAIMING THE
WEEK OF JANUARY 25TH TO JANUARY 31ST, 2009 TO BE
"NATIONAL
CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETIST WEEK" IN THE STATE
OF

WHEREAS, Certified
Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are essential
to Rhode
Island and
quality, cost-effective anesthesia care for more than 125
years; and
WHEREAS, Functioning as hands-on anesthesia specialists, CRNAs provide
approximately 30 million anesthetics to patients throughout the
WHEREAS, CRNAs are also the sole anesthesia providers in more than
two-thirds of all
rural hospitals, affording these medical facilities with
obstetrical, surgical, and trauma
stabilization capabilities; and
WHEREAS, CRNAs practice in virtually every setting in which
anesthesia is delivered,
including traditional hospital surgical suites and obstetrical
delivery rooms. They provide care in
a myriad of ambulatory surgical centers including the
offices of dentists, ophthalmologists and
plastic surgeons, as well as with the United States Military,
in Public Health Services, and in
Veterans Affairs medical facilities; now, therefore be
it
RESOLVED,
That this Senate of the State of
hereby celebrates the week of January 25th through January
31st, 2009 to be “National Certified
Registered
Nurse Anesthetist Week” in the State of
thank all the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists for
their dedication and contributions to
building a brighter future for all the citizens of the
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Cheryl L.
Nimmo, President of the Rhode
Island
Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
