H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N
RESPECTFULLY
REQUESTING THE RHODE ISLAND ATTORNEY GENERAL TO
CONDUCT AN
INVESTIGATION INTO IMPROPER PRICE INFLATION REGARDING THE IMPLEMENTATION AND
INSTALLATION OF FIRE CODE SAFETY SYSTEMS

WHEREAS,
A House Oversight Commission was established to monitor the
ramifications
of the fire safety code in the State of Rhode Island; and
WHEREAS,
During the course of holding open hearings, the committee heard public
testimony
regarding incidents of price gouging relating to the installation of sprinkler
and fire
alarm
systems necessary for compliance with the state’s fire code safety laws; now,
therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this House of Representative of the State of Rhode Island and
Providence
Plantations hereby respectfully requests the Attorney General to investigate
improper
price
inflation regarding the implementation and installation of fire code safety
systems; and be it
further
RESOLVED,
That the House of Representatives respectfully requests the Attorney
General
to report back its findings and recommendations to the House of Representatives
on or
before
May 22, 2007; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit
a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Attorney General.
