S O L U T I O N
RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT
THE RHODE ISLAND PUBLIC UTILITIES
COMMISSION DEVELOP AN
AFFORDABLE ENERGY PLAN TO INSURE THAT NO
ONE GOES WITHOUT HEAT

WHEREAS,
Due to very high fuel prices, many more people than usual have had their
heat shut off; and
WHEREAS,
The role of the Public Utilities Commission is to do everything possible to
insure that no Rhode Island
family goes without heat; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and
Providence Plantations hereby
strongly urges the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission to
adopt an energy plan which
mandates that all households who have had their heat shut off could
have their service restored if
they pay 10% of what they owe up front and agree to pay 1/36 of
their remaining balance each
month in addition to remaining current on their payments of regular
monthly bills; and be it
further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy
of this resolution to the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission.
