PROCLAIMING JANUARY 27, 2004
AS CCRI WOMEN'S SOCCER DAY IN RHODE
ISLAND

WHEREAS,
The Community College of Rhode Island Women’s Soccer Team compiled
an enviable record of 17-3-1 in
2003; and
WHEREAS,
The Community College of Rhode Island Women’s Soccer Team finished
second in the NJCAA women’s
soccer tournament in 2003; and
WHEREAS,
The Community College of Rhode Island Athletics program lead by
Athletic Director Louis Pullano
has consistently achieved tremendous athletic success within a
framework of academic
integrity; and
WHEREAS,
Sophomore Katie Leahy of Warwick, was named the NJCAA Most
Valuable Forward for the second
consecutive year, and during her career at CCRI, had a scoring
streak of 32 consecutive games;
and
WHEREAS,
Erica Rico of Cranston, was the second all-time leading scorer and assist
maker during her CCRI career
and was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team; and
WHEREAS,
Sophomore Orlagh Cullen of Cumberland, set the all-time CCRI career
record for assists; and
WHEREAS,
Coach Dennis Grassini of Warwick, has achieved a 74-10-1 record during
his four years as coach; and
WHEREAS,
Coach Grassini has been ably assisted by Kathy Bannan who was an All
American goalie during her
playing days at CCRI; and
WHEREAS,
All Rhode Islanders are proud of the tremendous achievements and personal
character of this talented
group of women athletes; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this Senate of the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations
hereby proclaims January 27,
2004 as CCRI Women’s Soccer Day in Rhode Island; and be it
further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy
of this resolution to the Community College of Rhode Island
Women’s Soccer Team.
