A N A C T

RELATING TO SOLEMNIZATION OF MARRIAGES

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other general or special law to the contrary, Kenneth

Laurence, an Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court, may join Melissa Sue Burke

and James Edward Phillips, III in marriage at a place within the city of Newport on or about April

23, 2004. Justice Laurence is hereby authorized and empowered to join the forgoing persons in

marriage pursuant to and in accordance with chapter 15-3 of the general laws, entitled

"Solemnization of Marriages."

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
