MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PAY CERTAIN CLAIMS

     RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not

otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2003-2004, the sums stipulated to pay the claims of the

following:

     Representative Anastasia P. Williams

     The sum of $419.95 to pay the claim of Elizabeth A. Pease of 909 Meadow Lane,

Niskayuna, New York 12309 for damages to her personal property as a result of an incident at or

near Misquamicut State Beach, in the town of Westerly, on or about August 4, 2002;

     Representative Carol A. Mumford

     The sum of $307.36 to pay the claim of Arthur Lemery of 46 Spruce Drive, Hope, Rhode

Island 02831 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route 95

northbound just north of exit 5, in the town of West Greenwich, on or about June 30, 2002;

     Representative Raymond E. Gallison

     The sum of $130.17 to pay the claim of Carlos Faria of 100 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bristol,

Rhode Island 02809 for damages to his vehicle when it was struck by an unidentified vehicle

while his private passenger vehicle was parked allegedly in custody of Veterans Home Security at

or near Rhode Island Veterans Home parking lot south, in the town of Bristol, on or about

October 6, 2002;

     Representative Robert B. Jacquard

     The sum of $424.29 to pay the claim of Americo Rapa of 27 Waterman Avenue,

Cranston, Rhode Island 02910 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Route 10 northbound and the Niantic Avenue exit, in the city of Cranston, on or about

December 17, 2002;

     The sum of $80.47 to pay the claim of Ann Calcagni of 55 Trieste Street, Pawtucket,

Rhode Island 02860 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a partially concealed curbing at or

near booth 1, lot 1, Scarborough Beach North, in the town of Narragansett, on or about August

14, 2002;

     The sum of $97.32 to pay the claim of Ms. Mildred Rathbone of 20 Narragansett Avenue,

Apt. 19-C, Narragansett, Rhode Island 02882 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a

highway defect at or near Route 1 and Wagner Road, in the town of Westerly, on or about June

12, 2001;

     The sum of $231.17 to pay the claim of Tonya Marie Pool of 9 Stanfield Street,

Providence, Rhode Island 02909 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Route 10 southbound and the Providence/Warwick Route 95 split, in the city of Cranston, on

or about January 6, 2003;

     The sum of $169.16 to pay the claim of Arthur M. Read, II of 5 Kenmore Court

Barrington, Rhode Island 02806 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near the on ramp to the 6/10 connector, in the city of Providence, on or about July 6, 2001;

     The sum of $405.00 to pay the claim of Dennis A. DiMatteo of 8 Greenbrier Drive,

Barrington, Rhode Island 02806 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Massasoit Avenue just south of the intersection of Placquin Road, in the town of Barrington,

on or about November 15, 2002;

     The sum of $354.73 to pay the claim of Lauren P. Ezovski of 11 Meadowbrook Road,

Lincoln, Rhode Island 02865 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near 100 Sayles Hill Road in the village of Manville, on or about March 6, 2003;

     The sum of $859.00 to pay the claim of Myrna Crothers of 217 Chase Hill Road,

Ashaway, Rhode Island 02804 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Route 138 eastbound and Old Usquepaugh Road, in the town of Richmond, on or about June

7, 2000;

     The sum of $481.08 to pay the claim of Brian Mailloux of 515 Putnam Pike, Greenville,

Rhode Island 02828 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route

295 northbound and exit 2, in the city of Warwick, on or about February 26, 2003;

     The sum of $512.43 to pay the claim of Joseph J. Whitehead of 351 Wickham Road,

North Kingstown, Rhode Island 02852 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect

at or near Davisville Road and Devil's Foot Road, in the town of North Kingstown, on or about

February 13, 2003;

     The sum of $155.55 to pay the claim of Nancy Bromley of 373 North Road, PO Box 97,

Hope, Rhode Island 02831 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near

Main Street, westbound and the Old Fiskeville Fire Station, in the city of Cranston, on or about

February 23, 2003;

     The sum of $1830.65 to pay the claim of Liberty Mutual Group, 6575 Snowdrift Road,

Suite 101, Allentown, Pennsylvania 18106 as subrogee of Debra Feller of 37 Ashwood Circle,

Warwick, Rhode Island 02886 for damages to their insured's vehicle when it struck a highway

defect at or near Route 10 northbound and Niantic Avenue, in the city of Cranston, on or about

December 16, 2002;

     The sum of $463.92 to pay the claim of Susan L. Levesque of 825 Durfee Hill Road,

Chepachet, RI 02814 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route

6 eastbound and the Tire Pro Services Center, in the town of Johnston on or about March 10,

2003;

     The sum of $2140.07 to pay the claim of Illinois National Insurance Company and AIG

Specialty Auto, PO Box 2186, Alpharetta, Georgia 30023, as subrogee of Jeremy and Valerie

Yeremian of 60 Walker Road, Warwick, Rhode Island 02889 for damages to their insured's

vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route 10 northbound and Union Avenue, in the

city of Providence, on or about August 15, 2002;

     The sum of $210.00 to pay the supplemental claim of Patricia D. Reistetter of 48 Great

Hammock Road, Old Saybrook, Connecticut 06475 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a

roadway defect at or near Route 138 westbound, opposite 57 Spring Street, in the town of

Hopkinton, on or about September 15, 2001;

     The sum of $144.16 to pay the claim of Madeline Capaldi of 16 Powhatan Avenue,

Coventry, Rhode Island 02816 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Route 116 and 500 Knotty Oak Road, in the town of Coventry, on or about March 11, 2003;

     The sum of $250.00 to pay the claim of Ms. Lucia Cavedon of 2970 Mendon Road, #20,

Cumberland, Rhode Island 02864 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway debris at

or near the former Forte Quarry on Manville Hill Road, in the town of Cumberland, on or about

November 13, 2002;

     The sum of $843.30 to pay the claim of Michael A. Morin of 537 Mendon Road, North

Smithfield, Rhode Island 02896 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Eddie Dowling Highway, southbound and Old Louisquisset Pike, in the town of North

Smithfield, on or about March 30, 2003;

     The sum of $98.00 to pay the claim of David Leamy of 146 South Rose Street, East

Providence, Rhode Island 02814 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Route 195 westbound and the Gano Street exit, in the city of Providence, on or about

September 16, 2002;

     Representative Robert A. Watson

     The sum of $209.48 to pay the claim of Steven Burns of 26 Hanaford Drive, East

Greenwich, Rhode Island 02818 for damages to his vehicle when it was struck by airborne debris

caused by a Rhode Island State Employee conducting a grass mowing procedure at or near Ives

Road adjacent to Goddard Memorial State Park, in the city of Warwick, on or about May 15,

2003; and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his orders upon the

general treasurer for the payment of said sum.
