J O I N T R E S O L U T I O N

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PAY CERTAIN CLAIMS

     RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not

otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2003-2004, the sums stipulated to pay the claims of the

following:

     Senator Daniel DaPonte

     The sum of $98.99 to pay the claim of Francis Thomas, Jr. of 355 Grand Avenue,

Pawtucket, Rhode Island for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near

Newport Avenue southbound and the Pawtucket Credit Union in the city of East Providence on or

about March 11, 2003;

     Senator June N. Gibbs

     The sum of $1,326.39 to pay the claim of United Services Automobile Association, 9800

Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio, Texas 78288 as subrogee of Dennis R. York of 14 Mayflower

Drive, Middletown, Rhode Island 02842 for damages to their insured’s vehicle when it was struck

by a runaway overhead garage door that failed to remain in the automatic door track when

operated at or near Rhode Island Army National Guard Headquarters, 1051 North Main Street, in

the city of Providence, on or about December 3, 2002;

     Senator J. Michael Lenihan

     The sum of $ 515.19 to pay the claim of Edward F. Doorley, III of 139 Summit View

Lane, North Kingstown, Rhode Island 02852 for damages to his vehicle when it was struck by

airborne debris caused by Rhode Island state employees conducting a grass mowing procedure at

or near New London Avenue and Route 37 in the city of Cranston on or about August 9, 2002;

      Senator J. Michael Lenihan

     The sum of $60.00 to pay the claim of Amica Mutual Insurance Company, PO Box 6008

Providence, Rhode Island 02940 as subrogee of Edward F. Doorley, III of 139 Summit View

Lane, North Kingstown, Rhode Island 02852 for damages to his vehicle when it was struck by

airborne debris caused by Rhode Island state employees conducting a grass mowing procedure at

or near New London Avenue and Route 37 in the city of Cranston on or about August 9, 2002;

     Senator Joseph M. Polisena

     The sum of $171.26 to pay the claim of Doria A. Coppola of 45 George Waterman Road,

Johnston, Rhode Island 02919 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Route 10 southbound and the Route 95 north and southbound exit, in the city of Providence

on or about January 5, 2003;

     Senator James C. Sheehan

     The sum of $2,229.00 to pay the claim of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, PO Box

5104 Turnpike Road Westborough, MA 01581 as subrogee of Ellen M. Wescott of 7 Fir Drive,

Narragansett, Rhode Island 02882 for damages to their insured’s vehicle when it was struck by a

deer at or near Point Judith Road and Fisherman’s Memorial Campground in the town of

Narragansett on or about October 22, 2000;

     Senator Hanna M. Gallo

     The sum of $190.60 to pay the claim of Shelia A. DelGrande of 81 Sweetbriar Drive,

Cranston, RI 02920 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near

Reservoir Ave southbound and Sockonossett Road, in the City of Cranston on or about January 6,

2003;

     Senator Stephen D. Alves

     The sum of $151.00 to pay the claim of Carolyn Caldamone of 145 Prospect Hill

Avenue, West Warwick, Rhode Island 02903 for personal injuries sustained when she fell as a

result of an uneven dirt/pavement transition at or near the bathhouse/clubhouse, Goddard Park, in

the city of Warwick on or about May 5, 2002;

     Senator John A. Celona

     The sum of $85.00 to pay the claim of Mary D. Mergener of 24 Oak Grove Blvd., North

Providence, Rhode Island 02911 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Route 116 northbound and Knotty Hill Road, in the town of Coventry, on or about February

23, 2003;

     Senator Dominick J. Ruggerio

     The sum of $173.73 to pay the claim of Francis DiMenno of 18 Iowa Street, Providence

Rhode Island 02904 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route

195 East and the Route 6 in the city of East Providence on or about April 12, 2003; and the state

controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his orders upon the general treasurer for the

payment of said sum.

     Senator Hanna M. Gallo

     The sum of $793.32 to pay the claim of David J. Sisti of 11 Russet Way, Cranston RI

02920 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route 10 northbound

and Union Avenue, in the City of Providence on or about December 17, 2002; and the state

controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his orders upon the general treasurer for the

payment of said sum.
