S O L U T I O N
RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT
THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES,
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE DONALD
RUMSFELD AND THE RHODE ISLAND
DELEGATION TO CONGRESS DO ALL
THEY CAN TO ENSURE THAT THE RHODE
ISLAND NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS
SERVING IN IRAQ HAVE ALL NECESSARY
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES

WHEREAS,
Today there are many members of the Rhode Island National Guard
sacrificing much as they serve
their nation in Iraq; and
WHEREAS,
There is some concern that many of the members of the Rhode Island
National Guard currently do not
have proper access to vital and essential supplies and equipment
such as water, food, and flak
jackets; and
WHEREAS,
Our Guardsmen have put their careers on hold and are away from their
families without any knowledge
of when their tours of duty will end; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and
Providence Plantations hereby
respectfully request that the President of the United States, the
Secretary of Defense, and the
Rhode Island delegation to Congress do all they can to ensure that
all members of the Rhode
Island National Guard serving in Iraq are provided with the necessary
supplies and equipment and,
furthermore, we respectfully request that these men and women are
given some indication as to
when their tour of duty in Iraq will be ending; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to
transmit duly certified copies
of this resolution to the President of the United States, the Secretary
of Defense, and the members of
the Rhode Island Congressional delegation.
