H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N
CREATING
A HOUSE STUDY COMMISSION TO STUDY ALL ASPECTS OF CARE OF STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL
SETTING

It
is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION
1. (a) There is established a commission within the House of Representatives
to
study all aspects of the care of students with chronic health conditions in the
public school
setting.
(b)
The commission shall consist of nine (9) members, all of whom shall be citizens
and
residents
of the state: five (5) of whom shall be members of the House of Representatives,
not
more
than four (4) from the same political party, to be appointed by the Speaker of
the House;
one
(1) of whom shall be the Commissioner of Education or his/her designee; one (1)
of whom
shall
be the President of the School Nurse Teachers’ Association or his/her designee;
one (1) of
whom
shall be the director of the Department of Health or his/her designee; and one
(1) of whom
shall
be president of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics
or his/her
designee.
(c)
The commission shall report its findings and recommendations to the House of
Representatives
on or before February 1, 2004 and said commission shall expire on April 1,
2004.
SECTION
2. This resolution shall take effect upon passage.
