S O L U T I O N
RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE
RHODE ISLAND DIRECTOR OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
TO STUDY THE PEDESTRIAN CROSSWAY ON
SMITH STREET

WHEREAS,
The Smith Street pedestrian crossway at the Rhode Island State House has
proven to be an extremely
dangerous crossing; and
WHEREAS,
After numerous near-misses and unfortunately, pedestrian-involved
accidents, a study of this
perilous crossing is in order; and
WHEREAS,
This study of the crossway on Smith Street should contain the following
information:
1.
the number of accidents that have taken place;
2. the number of personal injuries sustained;
3. the number of reports of property damage;
4. the need for proper lighting; and
5. the need for appropriate signage; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and
Providence Plantations hereby
respectfully requests the Director of the Rhode Island Department
of Transportation to conduct a
study of the pedestrian crossway on Smith Street at the Rhode
Island State House; and be it
further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy
of this resolution to the Director of the Rhode Island Department of
Transportation.
