URGING THE NEW ENGLAND GAS COMPANY AND THE UNITED STEEL WORKERS UNION OF AMERICA TO RESUME NEGOTIATIONS OVER THEIR CONTRACT DISPUTE

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby urges the Providence - based, New England Gas Company, a subsidiary of Austin, Texas - based Southern Union, and the Steel Workers Union of America to resume negotiations over their contract and reach a mutual agreement as soon as possible for public safety interests and the welfare of the citizens of Rhode Island; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the New England Gas Company and Local 12431 of the United Steel Workers Union of America.
