SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other general or special law to the contrary, the Honorable Richard C. Sardella, mayor of the city of Newport, may join Lisa Ann McCamphill and Jonathan James Pelletier both residents of the state of Rhode Island, in marriage at a place within the city of Newport on September 15, 2002. The Honorable Richard C. Sardella may also join Benjamin J. Turkel and Heather Jacob in marriage at a place within the town of West Greenwich on October 26, 2002. Richard C. Sardella is hereby authorized and empowered to join the foregoing persons in marriage pursuant to and in accordance with chapter 15-3 of the general laws entitled "Solemnization of Marriages."

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
