SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other general or special law to the contrary, Sakir Ilkay of Nicosia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, retired Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, may join Berin Sultan and Christopher Romagnolo in marriage at a place within the town of Bristol on or about August 25, 2002. Justice Ilkay is hereby authorized and empowered to join the foregoing persons in marriage pursuant to and in accordance with chapter 15-3 of the general laws, entitled "Solemnization of Marriages."

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
