CONGRATULATING JAMES PARISI ON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER THREE DECADES

OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE AS A LOBBYIST FOR THE RHODE ISLAND FEDERATION

OF TEACHERS AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

     WHEREAS, For the last three decades, James Parisi has been a respected and

2

distinguished presence at the Rhode Island State House for the Rhode Island Federation of

3

Teachers and Health Professionals (RIFTHP), an organization of more than 10,000 members who

4

work as teachers, nurses and other health professionals, school-related personnel, higher

5

education faculty and staff, and state and municipal employees; and

6

     WHEREAS, From the moment that Mr. Parisi accepted this position and its

7

responsibilities, he has worked tirelessly to inform and educate our elected officials about

8

concerns related to education, healthcare, labor issues, retirement, and pension-related matters.

9

He has been widely admired for his vast knowledge about these complex issues and for his

10

honesty and abiding integrity; and

11

     WHEREAS, In addition to his legislative duties and responsibilities, Mr. Parisi has also

12

served as a field representative for six different local unions in Rhode Island, where he provided

13

direct support and representation to his members. In all his endeavors, Mr. Parisi is well-known

14

for his friendly and collegial approach to discussions and negotiations, and for his ability and

15

willingness to work constructively with all parties on an issue. He has also been widely praised

16

for the breadth of his institutional knowledge and rigorous attention to detail, and he is considered

17

to be a trusted source of information and opinions on the vexing issues of the day; now, therefore

18

be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest

congratulations to Mr. James Parisi on his retirement as a lobbyist for the Rhode Island

2

Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals after three decades of distinguished and

3

meritorious service. We further wish him good health and continued success in all future

4

endeavors; and be it further

5

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

6

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. James Parisi.
