EXTENDING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE THOMAS E.

HODGE

     WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of the

2

Honorable Thomas E. Hodge, the husband of Jeanne Hodge, and the father of Sharon Chakoian

3

and her husband, Gary, and Michael Hodge and his wife, Annmarie. He was also the grandfather

4

of Torey Cotrone, Daniel Cotrone, Ryan Hodge and Gillain Hodge; and

5

     WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the City of Pawtucket, Mr. Hodge was a son of the

6

late William and Genevieve Hodge, and the brother of Genevieve White, William Hodge, Patricia

7

Bacon, Eileen Gray, and the late Mary Fitzpatrick and John Hodge; and

8

     WHEREAS, For more than thirty years, Mr. Hodge owned and operated Tom Tux in

9

Pawtucket; and

10

     WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community, Mr. Hodge had served on the Pawtucket City

11

Council for twenty-nine years, and was elected as a State Representative for the City of

12

Pawtucket on November 6th of 1990, serving for one term. In addition, he served on the

13

Pawtucket Arts Council as President, Secretary, and Treasurer for many years; and

14

     WHEREAS, A very proud Irishman, Mr. Hodge was honored as the Grand Marshall of

15

the Pawtucket Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. He had also served on the Board for the ARC of

16

Blackstone Valley of Pawtucket for many years, on the Pawtucket Water Board, and as the

17

homeless liaison for the City of Pawtucket; and

18

     WHEREAS, Mr. Hodge has been honored with many awards and distinctions including

19

the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Legislative Award, St. Raphael Academy Volunteer of the Year,

and United Cerebral Palsy Board Member of the Year; now, therefore be it

2

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends sympathy and

3

condolences on the passing of the Honorable Thomas E. Hodge; and be it further

4

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

5

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Jeanne Hodge and Family.
