EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ROGER A. SAVINI | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate of the State of Rhode Island has |
2 | learned of the passing of Roger A. Savini of North Smithfield. Mr. Savini was the beloved |
3 | husband of Micheline Savini for 51 years; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Roger Savini was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Arthur William and |
5 | Jeanne Ledoux Savini. Roger Savini and his wife, Micheline, were successful entrepreneurs who |
6 | owned the popular Savini's Restaurant and Ciro's Tavern in Woonsocket. Both establishments |
7 | were known for being family-friendly gathering places that provided high-quality food at |
8 | reasonable prices; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Prior to his purchase of Savini's restaurant in 1980, Mr. Savini worked at |
10 | General Motors and had a successful career as a real estate broker. Mr. Savini also owned, with |
11 | his wife, Chipman's Corner and Fairnount St. Fish & Chip restaurants, and a local laundromat; |
12 | and |
13 | WHEREAS, Roger Savini was always on the go and was a constant presence within his |
14 | communities. If he was not at his own restaurants, he could be found spending time at the local |
15 | social clubs such as the Italian Workingman's Club, Cercle Laurier, the Elks and the St. Joseph's |
16 | Veterans Association. Mr. Savini was an accomplished blackjack player, and was a regular visitor |
17 | with his friends to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. He also enjoyed his annual family vacations to |
18 | the Island of Aruba, and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren; and |
19 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Micheline, Roger Savini is survived by his |
20 | daughters, Jill Andrea Moylan, and Gina Marie Savini Fague and her husband, Jeffery Fague, and |

1 | his grandchildren, Makenna Marie, Emelia Marie, Hanna Marie Moylan, Nico Savini and Giada |
2 | Savini Fague. Mr. Savini also leaves behind his sisters Elaine Savini, and Nancy Davidge and her |
3 | husband, Billy Davidge, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Savini was |
4 | predeceased by his brother, Robert Savini and his wife, Karen Savini; now, therefore be it |
5 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest |
6 | condolences to the Savini Family on the passing of Roger A. Savini; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Micheline Savini and Family. |
